[5/16 13:30] Joanna Macy's "Reconnecting Work" Special Trial Session - How do we live towards a major shift towards a sustainable world?
The Reconnecting Work was designed in the late 1970s by Joanna Macy, an environmental activist, Buddhist philosopher, and systems thinker, with the goal of cultivating the will and power to actively work to heal the world. In this workshop, we will focus on experiencing gratitude and seeing with new eyes. This workshop is recommended for those who want to increase their awareness of themselves and those around them, get creative ideas for their careers, work, and lifestyles, experience a deep connection with themselves, the earth, and all living things, are interested in environmental and social issues, and want to think about what they can do and take action.

About the event
Whenever we see what is happening around the world - conflicts, economic and social turmoil, environmental destruction... we may feel a sense of sadness and emptiness every time we watch the news. Is there no other option but to accept this situation?
The crisis currently facing all life on Earth may not be an easy problem to solve. That is why it is time for each and every one of us to pay attention to what is happening in our world, put a stop to the accelerating destruction, and make the choice to make a major shift to a "world that is sustainable for life."
The "Reconnecting Work" is a workshop designed in the late 1970s to foster the willingness and strength to actively work towards healing the world. It aims to engage people in facing the world's pain while building new relationships with the world and reclaiming their own lives from various forms of control, in order to bring about a major shift towards a "life-sustainable world."
The creator of this work is Joanna Macy, an environmental activist, Buddhist philosopher, systems thinker, and respected international leader for her 50 years of work in civil rights, global justice, and ecological movements. Drawing on deep ecology, systems thinking, Gaia theory, spiritual traditions (particularly Buddhism and indigenous teachings), and the group wisdom of her early workshops, this work has spread globally, helping thousands of people around the world learn how to organize and act courageously despite rapid social and environmental degradation.

The program is comprised of four spirals: [Feeling gratitude] → [Cherishing the pain of the world] → [Seeing with new eyes (expanding your concept of self/perceiving time in a larger context)] → [Moving forward (grasping an inspiring vision)]. It is a very warm and powerful program that gently invites you to a new way of perceiving yourself and reality that you would not normally experience. Another feature is that there are many exercises that utilize and develop the power of the imagination.

There are many activities to do, but this workshop will focus on experiencing gratitude and seeing things with new eyes (expanding the concept of self/perceiving time as a larger flow). It will only be three hours, but it will take you to perspectives you never imagined.
